Welcome back to our blog page here at Rockport Senior Living. Being Rocky River’s leading senior care providers, we are passionate about providing elderly folks with the highest quality of care available. We’ve got a top-notch facility that is exactly what your aging senior needs. Does your loved one require care that is fairly consistent with limited freedom? We can provide that with our excellent assisted living facility!
If your elderly family member is still able to retain much of their freedoms but they would do well to be in a community where caregivers aren’t far away, our independent living services would serve them well. Is your elderly loved one starting to lose their grip on reality? They might do well in our memory care program. Finally, if you’re simply in need of a break from the care that you consistently provide for your aging family member, we have excellent respite care services and an elder daycare program that will give you the rest you’re desperately needing.
No matter what senior services you’re in need of here in Rocky River, Rockport Senior Living would love to be the team to help give you and your family back your quality of life. Contact us today to learn more about our amazing senior services or to schedule a tour of our elderly facility!
The Importance of the Mind
Since we’re in the business of senior care, we make all things health our business. We emphasize the value of physical health when we schedule exercise classes, we focus on maintaining a healthy diet in the meals that we serve, and we consider the health of the brain in the games and activities that we plan. It’s no secret that as we age, the brain starts to decrease in its ability to retain information, work quickly, and keep track of multiple things at one time. Even at the tender age of 26, our brains cease to create new cells and it can be argued that, where biology is concerned, our brains begin “dying” before we’re even 30.
What does that mean for our elderly friends and family members? As you can see by the sheer number of folks dealing with Alzheimer’s and dementia, the loss of mental abilities is so often attributed to old age. It sometimes can feel like a losing battle. However, did you know that there are ways to take care of your brain and even improve its function as you age?
Thanks for reading part one — in part two of our blog series on caring for the mind, we’re going to explore some of the tangible ways to properly care for this most valuable of organs. We’ll take a look at how our diets, daily habits, and activities can affect our minds. There are some effective and even proven ways to properly care for our brains so make sure you tune in for our second installment.
